Greenwood Falls

wide stepping drops over angled rocks near Silver City

Wide stepping drops over angled rocks, either forcing the brown waters into narrow channels or creating an even line across the entire river. Greenwood Falls, or Bonanza Falls, is near the Ontonagon town of Silver City, home of a fizzled mining boom in the late 1800s. Even though the drops are not tall, the unique structure of the rock and easy access make for a quick and interesting stop.

Directions

Less than a mile south of Silver City on M-64 there is a small drive and parking lot on the west side of the road with a sign for Greenwood Falls. Park in the lot and follow the path straight to the river to view the upper falls. More drops and better angles can be found by following the path and river downstream.
