Haypress Dam Falls

small drop between swamps in the Peshekee

An angry set of chutes draining one swamp to another swamp, Haypress Dam Falls is a small waterfall on the Peshekee River. Huge mounds of rock rise up here, creating sizeable hills on each side of the river as well as obstacles for the river to flow around. The main draw is the setting, high up on the {{link=“blog/snowy-drive-down-the-peshekee-grade” anchor=“Peshekee Grade”}} and far from civilization.

Directions

Take the Peshekee Grade north from US-41 (just east of Michigamee) for 14.8 miles. A small pull off will be on the right side of the road near one of the grade’s rock cuts. Park here and follow the trail that leads down to the river.
