Tibbet's Falls

The Sturgeon River enters a group of tough slate rock a few miles downstream from {{link=“falls/sturgeon-river/canyon-river-falls”}} to form a series of low rapids and falls. Tibbet’s Falls is located on the south side of Barage Plains just before the river starts a long sweep northwards. While the waterfall is small and spread out the area is pleasantly remote and has easy access from the North Country Trail.

Directions

Take Plains Road north from M-28 for 3.4 miles, crossing over Sturgeon River on the way, before turning left on a small sandy road. The first left fork will lead to a two-car parking area with a trail leading south to the river. Follow the trail downhill to the river, taking the first split right to view the falls from a downstream angle.
